Meet the ELL Staff

Kim Glasgow-

Kim is the coordinator of the ESL and Bilingual program in District 205.  She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Monmouth College, a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Saint Xavier University and an ESL Endorsement from National Louis University.  Kim has served the students, staff and administrators in District 205 for 23 years as both an elementary classroom teacher and the Instructional Support Coordinator. Kim's office is located at Lincoln Education Center but she is most likely to be found in many of the district's schools throughout the day.

Karen provides ESL and Bilingual-Spanish services to students at Silas Willard Elementary School. Karen most recently taught ESL at GHS and prior to that  at Carl Sandburg College for almost 30 years.  During most of that time she was also the Carl Sandburg College Literacy Coalition Coordinator and trained volunteer tutors who have been working with nonnative and native English Speakers.  Her masters is in Education: Reading

Lisa provides ESL and Bilingual-French/Spanish & Arabic instruction to students at Galesburg High School.  She also supports District 205 families and students with French and Arabic translation, as well as offers professional development to all staff working with ELs.

Renee provides ESL and Bilingual-Spanish services to students at Steele Elementary School. Renee has 28 years of teaching experience; the past 3 of which have been in District #205.  She's a graduate of Galesburg High School, a mother of two teenage boys, and a passionate amateur photographer.

 Kari Caldwell
Kari has worked in Galesburg CUSD #205 since 2000, first as a middle school Outreach Worker, and now as an ESL teacher at Churchill Jr. High School. This year all middle school students identified as needing English as a Second Language services attend Churchill Junior High School for ESL instruction.  Kari holds a BSEd from Illinois State University and has nearly completed her  MSEd  and ESL endorsement from University of Illinois Springfield. Because of her extensive background in the field of Outreach and her own life experiences, her vision is to empower students to overcome adversity and to help them develop independence so that they can have a secure future. She lives with her husband and daughter in Galesburg.  She also has two grown children who attended Galesburg schools, as well as a new grandson. She loves spending time with her family, playing with her two dogs, going to garage sales, and traveling.

 Alissa Holder Alissa is the ESL classroom teacher at Bright Futures Preschool.  She is meeting the English Language needs of our youngest students with her innovative teaching strategies and passion for early childhood and language acquisition.

Tica provides ESL services to students at King  Elementary School. She was born in Cuba and is fluent in Spanish. Tica is available for Bilingual-Spanish translation and interpretation for all families and students in District 205.

John is the Parent Facilitator for all English as a Second Language families new to the district.  John takes the lead in all student registration and any language support that may be needed, in particular for French/Lingala translation and interpretation.  John also provides ESL and Bilingual-French instruction for students at Bright Futures Preschool and Nielson Elementary.

Scott Rasso

Scott has worked in Galesburg CUSD #205 since 2004 and provides ESL services to students at Galesburg High School. He holds a BSEd from Illinois State University and an MSEd from Western Illinois University. He has earned his credential as a Literacy Lessons Tutor through National Louis University. He is currently studying Communication Science & Disorders through Utah State University's online program. He believes that learning should inspire and empower one to grow and develop throughout one's professional and personal lives. He is a passionate Chicago sports fan, he loves reading, fishing, traveling, cooking, riding roller coasters, ballroom dancing, and playing video games. His children Rafael and Dominique are the greatest things to ever happen to him.

 Dee Robb Dee is both a Reading Recovery and ESL teacher at Nielson and Steele Elementary Schools.  She is currently finishing  her ESL Endorsement through Western Illinois University.

Sarah provides ELL and Bilingual-French services to students at Steele Elementary School. Sarah has a B.S. in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Educational Administration, and is working towards her Ed.D. with a focus on English Language Learners. She lived in Gambia of West Africa for two years, and has visited 41 countries.

Tiffany Tepach Tiffany provides ESL instruction to students at Gale Elementary School.  She received her B.A.  from Western Illinois University.

Lindsay Morgan

Lindsay is the District #205 ELL KnoxCorps Fellow for 2016-2017. A student at Knox College, Lindsay is currently participating in her student teaching experience at Gale Elementary School and will continue her fellowship duties during second semester by providing translation, public relations, and volunteer coordination for the ESL department.
