Calendar Waiver/Modification Law

Notice of Public Hearing

Illinois P.A. 96-640 was enacted on August 24, 2009. This Act provides that a school board is authorized to hold school on several legal school holidays, including the birthday of Casimir Pulaski (first Monday in March). For the 2012-13 school year the Board of Education of CUSD #205 has approved that Monday, March 4, 2013 is to be used as a day of student attendance. In order for this proposed calendar modification to become official, the Board must first hold a public hearing about the proposal. The school board is providing notice preceding the public hearing to both educators and parents. The hearing will be held at 6:45PM on Monday, June 25th in the Board Room of the Lincoln Education Center, 932 Harrison St.  The proposal being considered is the use of the Casimir Pulaski legal school holiday as a day of school attendance. At the hearing, testimony from educators and parents will be taken about the proposal.

Any interested parents or educators are encouraged to come to the hearing and give input.
