As you know, a new type of flu called H1N1 (or Swine Flu) has entered the
United States. There is one known case of this flu in Knox County.
Like other types of influenza, it is a respiratory illness. Symptoms
include fever and cough, sore throat or nasal congestion. If you child
experiences these symptoms, please keep them at home and contact your health
provider.
Recommendations and actions to avoid swine flu include
1)cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze;
2) wash hands often with soap and water, especially after
coughing/sneezing and alcohol-based cleaners are effective; 3)avoid
touching your eyes, nose or mouth as germs spread that way; 4)try to
avoid close contact with sick people; 5) if sick, stay home from
school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
