Overcoming Adversity to Achieve Your Dreams Web Quest

 

This year, you have read two books, Sahara Special and So B It.  In both of these books, as well as our next book Four Perfect Pebbles, the characters have overcome adversity and achieved their dreams.

 

Your mission is to read and explore the life of one individual who has faced obstacles during their lifetime.  You and your partner will research this person and report to the class. 

 

Task

Investigate the life of your person

In order to accomplish this, you and your partner will need to:

·        Gather information about the person focusing on their adversity

·        Share the information learned about your person in an oral presentation

 

Process

·        You and your assigned partner will draw the name of a famous person who met special challenges in their life.

·        Research this person using the resources provided

·        Record specific facts about your person

·        Date of birth and death

·        Information about their child hood and youth (5 fascinating facts)

·        Description of this person’s disability or prejudice circumstances and how they dealt with this

·        Describe how this person inspires you with challenges everyone faces in their life

·        Discuss what you learned about managing difficulties

·        Be sure to include at least two photographs or drawings relevant to your person

·        Find a quote from or about your person

·        List resources you used

Whenever you face a particular problem, you may want to get inspiration by reading how someone else dealt with his difficulties. A role model can be someone in your family or school. These people can give you ideas about how to face problems and persevere with obstacles in life.
