Galesburg CUSD #205 is excited to announce the adoption of Performance Series by Scantron as a diagnostic tool to support our teachers in making the best educational decisions for students in our K-12 schools, beginning with the 2016-2017 school year.
This new assessment tool will be used 3 times* per year to help inform teachers’ instructional planning and classroom activities. Parents will receive reports on their student’s progress three times per school year, in addition to traditional report card information, and results will also be discussed with you during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

* Teachers may also use these tools more frequently to inform & modify your child’s specific instructional activities.
The Performance Series assessment tool makes it easier for your child’s teacher(s) to identify his or her progress. Teachers can more easily find the diagnostic information they need to provide the most appropriate instructional activities to support students’ areas of need, and appropriately challenge students in areas where they may already excel.
Performance Series’ adaptive assessments are not like most standardized tests. Performance Series provides web-based, computer-adaptive assessments that are unique to your child based on the answers they provide. Teachers in each school can then use this information to:
* Identify your child’s exact ability levels, not limited by a grade level range.
* Demonstrate your child’s personal academic growth over time
* Place your child in the correct instructional programs, as appropriate to his or her grade level and demonstrated abilities
Your child’s full participation in Performance Series assessments is essential to provide the best educational experience possible in Galesburg CUSD #205 schools. Please support your child’s schools and teachers by encouraging them to do their best when engaging with this new assessment tool.
Please read through the attached booklet to learn more about our new approach to supporting your child’s education.
Sincerely,
Ralph Grimm
