Lombard’s School-Wide Discipline Plan

The purpose of the behavior discipline plan is to encourage positive productive behavior in all students.  The number system is a way to remind students when they have fallen below school-wide expectations.  By continually reinforcing and re-teaching the expected behaviors we hope to achieve a higher level of success.  We will use the following guidelines to help our students achieve further maturity and growth to be successful in high school and beyond.

Expectations-from the school-wide pride guide

  1. Respect
  2. Responsibility
  3. Be there; Be ready
  4. KHFOOTY

Initial efforts will be made to re-teach the expected behaviors, prior to giving consequences/numbers.  Expectations are proactively taught and modeled by teachers, so that students act according to expectations.  Students who fail to meet all school-wide expectations will be given a number reflecting which expectations were not met.  Numbers will accumulate in all core classes for one 24-hour period.  Teachers will report numbers during team meeting time and consequences will be given thereafter.

The following is a list of consequences that will result from the accumulation of numbers in one 24-hour period:

  • 1st number-teacher warning, re-teach for expected behavior
  • 2nd number-teacher and student one-on-one conversation
  • 3rd number-20 minute detention
  • 4th number-20 minute detention, plus a phone call/email/home visit
  • 5th number-20 minute detention, plus a phone call and letter home and meeting with team of teachers
  • 6th number-referral to office for further consequences

Team Member Roles (Rotating on a quarterly basis):

  1. Spreadsheet and Binder keeper of numbers, using codes and teacher initials
  2. Detention Writer
  3. Detention Monitor-students will serve detentions with this person
  4. Phone Log:  (to include) date, time, who contact was made with, message
  5. Parent Notes:  See form letter, used after 2 calls
  6. Celebrations (every 2 weeks)-targeted behavior/celebration is created by team and this person follows through on getting the celebration ready

Important Guidelines to follow:

  • Only one number can be given per incident (giving time to return to normal behavior) and the student must be aware of the problem behavior and expected replacement behavior.
  • Behavior needs to be specific so that the spreadsheet/binder keeper can accurately record information about the number.  Code Sheet is included in this packet.
  • Using data, celebrations need to be done every two weeks targeting one specific behavior.
