Life Skills
Course Description: A life skills program is focused on becoming a successful community citizen as the student grows into adulthood. Students will focus on functional life skills throughout their curriculum school year. Students will work academically on their leveled skills to achieve success in the classroom. Students will also participate in community outings that strengthen money management skills and vocational skills such as shopping or ordering food at a restaurant.
Students have a balanced day of vocational, functional, and academic skills. Students are working for personal achievement opposed to assigned grades.
Expected Outcomes:
Develop an understanding of clothing care
Gain personal self-reliance through goal setting
Identify positive peer relationships
Master basic consumer skills.
Become aware of career opportunities through field trips.
Enhance study skills, goal-setting and personal self-discovery
Master basic kitchen skills.
Build and maintain relationships with peers
