The Galesburg Junior High Spelling Bee competition showcased incredible talent and determination this year! A huge congratulations to the students who placed in the top three for each grade level! In 7th grade, Aizlee Burkhardt took home the first-place trophy, followed closely by Howard Turner in second and Maya Essie securing the third spot. On the 8th-grade side, Amir Safir proudly claimed first place with Aaron Brooks and Grace Fransene taking second and third, respectively. Athletic Update:
The boys' basketball games against Alleman High School, originally scheduled for tonight, have been postponed to Saturday, January 24th, and will be held at the same times as originally planned. The high school JV wrestling team will not be making the trip to Orion today or tomorrow. All other events scheduled for Saturday will proceed as arranged, except for the JV wrestling meet in Orion. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support as we continue to navigate our schedule! #StreaksNation

Twenty-eight talented Galesburg students recently attended the 50th annual Illinois Theatre Festival at Illinois State University. This incredible event allowed our students to engage in hands-on workshops led by professional artists and experienced college faculty, covering everything from acting and singing to dancing and technical theatre. Not only did they explore their passion for the performing arts, but they also showcased their skills by auditioning for various college programs and scholarships, receiving invaluable feedback from industry professionals along the way. Additionally, they had the opportunity to attend outstanding performances featuring schools from across Illinois. We are so proud of how our Silver Streaks Theatre Program represented Galesburg! #StreaksNation

We have been made aware of some concerning social media posts directed towards Galesburg Junior Senior High School. While no specific threat has been made, we are working closely with the Galesburg Police Department to provide extra police presence tomorrow at the school and also to thoroughly investigate who posted this and to bring that person to justice.
We prioritize student and staff safety and again we do not believe there is a specific threat.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update families if new information becomes available.

The Galesburg High School Student Council proudly coordinated this year’s Angel Tree, bringing our school community together to support 40 local children this holiday season.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of staff, students, clubs, and athletic teams, gifts were purchased and donated to help make the holidays brighter for families in our community. This truly was a team effort and a wonderful example of holiday spirit!

We recently celebrated the achievement of our students who have completed the Everfi: Financial Literacy for High School module.
