The art room was a scene of focused creativity today as Mrs. Frisque's Studio Art 1 students reached a major milestone in their latest project.
Students wrapped up their Bubble Letter tiles, a project designed to blend typography with the world of ceramics. Throughout the unit, students worked to master three core objectives:
Defining Letters/Numbers: Crafting clear, recognizable "bubble" forms that leap off the surface.
Creating Creases; Using depth and shadow to give the letters a 3D, inflated appearance
Subtractive Method: Utilizing specialized tools to etch, scratch, and carve intricate details directly into the clay.
Students used clay, sponges, brushes, and water to smooth surfaces and refine edges before the item was taken to the kiln for firing.
We can't wait to see the finished pieces!
