The Galesburg CUSD #205 Board of Education has officially approved the hiring of Mrs. Kim Spiker as the district's new Curriculum Director.
Mrs. Spiker is proud to have served students and educators in Arizona and Illinois for over thirty years. Her focus on building relationships enables work to move forward and quickly provides proven outcomes with student and adult learners.
After spending twenty years teaching elementary and middle school students, Mrs. Spiker transitioned into coaching and providing professional learning for teachers, teams, and administrators around Central and Southern Illinois with the Illinois MTSS Network. Her unique way of connecting with educators allows the support of learners through job-embedded activities, which bring people together and allow individuals and teams to apply new learning in their context for faster growth and improved student outcomes.
Mrs. Spiker earned a Bachelor's degree in LIberal Studies from California State University at San Marcos. She went on to earn graduate degrees in Educational Leadership from Eastern Illinois University and Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.
Galesburg is home to Mrs. Spiker, her husband Arnie, and Ribbie the cat. She enjoys reading, time outside exploring the beauty of nature, traveling, and visiting her three grown children, who all live in different states: Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Arizona.
We would like to welcome Mrs. Spiker and look forward to her leadership and the positive impact she will bring to our students, staff, and community.
