We are aware of Friday's court ruling regarding COVID-19 mitigation protocols in schools. The district was not named in the lawsuit, therefore the district is not subject to the Temporary Restraining Order. The State has moved for a stay on the ruling, and the State has also filed an appeal. The Appellate Court has until Thursday, February 17th to render a decision. The situation is very fluid and we are monitoring it very closely. As the court battle ensues, we continue to ask everyone to follow CDC recommendations to protect the most vulnerable members of our community. Masks will continue to be required as they have been since the District resumed in-person instruction during the 2020-2021 school year. We will also continue conducting COVID-19 contract tracing in conjunction with the Knox County Health Department. It is the District’s understanding that the Appellate Court’s decision will be binding for the rest of the year. The District will abide by the rule of law, whatever that may be. We will provide updates when we are made aware of new information. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
